Machines for Freedom is a fierce Women’s only cycling apparel company from Los Angeles. When I was asked to participate in this incredible project with MFF, the only necessity was to use their ( not yet launched ) Fruit’s Jersey as inspiration. The goal was to design and paint a fully built Sworks Tarmac. The inspiration in the jersey designed by MFF was wrapped around the culture and stigmatism around women and fruit, so using that as starting point I began to build a design that spoke to the power women. There needed to be a rawness to the design, but enveloped by this cross of strength and beauty. From the beginning I knew this needed to be at the core of this design.
